The Pantsir-S1 air defence battery and Kornet-EM ATGW capabilities against the ground-based enemy were demonstrated by live AD guns and ATGM firings in the frame of the antiaircraft missile troops international competition - KEYS TO THE SKY. Supposed enemy sabotage groups were defeated. The Pantsir-S1 air defence battery convoy mission was demonstrated by live SAM firings. All enemy low-level targets were engaged. The army crews were a success to fight target missiles and thus to protect the S-300 column.

In the frame of this competition a strategic outside exposition was arranged to show air defence armaments, target missile, and together with them one could see the Pantsir-S missile and gun air defence system and Kornet-EM ATGW.

Col. Gen. Victor Bondarev, Commander-in-Chief with Aerospace Forces summing up competition results as well as in his briefings with the media pointed out the importance of modern equipment delivery to the Aerospace Forces for comprehensive and deep evaluation of this or that sample. Thus it is expected that new targets will be put in service in the next year to add to the existing ones. Victor Bondarev also mentioned: “Today the Kornet-EM multi-purpose weapon system was demonstrated for the first time. You witnessed its advantages with your own eyes: four missiles were fired out and none of them failed to hit the target. It is required to complicate the challenge, sometimes put forward the tasks that seem impossible to cope with – but still to solve them. And to follow the Suvorov’s motto: hard training gives easy fighting”.

“Lighter weight – extended range – higher accuracy – more power”: these are KBP tasks to provide ATGW growth and new designs. Further ATGW development activities shall make these weapons capable to counter all the targets on the battlefield as the existing so as the future ones.
